Over 40,000 high-need students in Oregon go to school every day without the glasses they need to learn effectively. In a typical Oregon Title I school, up to one in three kids needs glasses but does not have them. Barriers to vision care access include parents getting the time off work to take their children to the doctor, lack of transportation to get to an eye appointment, low awareness of the importance of vision care awareness, shortage of optometrists who accept Medicaid, and fears about cost or coverage.

Vision To Learn has provided more than 580,000 eye exams and 480,000 glasses to students in need – all at no cost to the child, family, or school. Building off a successful pilot project launched in the Portland Metro area in 2023, Vision to Learn would like to expand service so no child in Oregon has to go without the glasses they need to succeed in school, and in life.
